Field Service Technician

JOB DUTIES:

+ Perform Technical Service functions including: Refrigeration System Repair

Electrical / Controls System Repair Preventive Maintenance Services Instrument Calibrations

System Start-up & Field Testing Validation Services

+ Provide prompt, efficient responses to customer service and/or warranty repair inquiries.

+ Report findings from service issues and works with technical staff to solve field problems.

+ Produce accurate administrative reports, including: timesheets, expense reports, CFC refrigerant logs, vehicle inventory, service tickets, protocols, test documentation, final reports, etc.

+ Assist in development and upgrades for service manuals.

+ Complete Service Tickets with detailed information on the problem found, parts needed, solution and time required.

+ Maintain a safe and operational company vehicle including cleaning, vehicle inventory, and general maintenance.

+ Brazing and welding of refrigeration system components.

+ Evacuation and charging of refrigeration systems.

+ Follow proper refrigerant handling practices. (recovery, reclaim, and system charge)

+ Maintain vehicle inventory stock of replacement parts.

+ Assist with service training schools as required.

+ Travel to customer sites as needed.

+ Keep the Service staff informed of task status through written or verbal communications.

+ Maintain good working relationship with all company personnel, i.e. purchasing, manufacturing, and engineering.

+ Assist with system assembly and installation.

+ On call for after hours emergency service needs as designated.

+ Confirm all travel arrangements with Service staff.

+ Keep a neat and orderly work area while at customer site.

+ Perform other duties as assigned by management.

JOB KNOWLEDGE

Requires an understanding of the operational procedures of the service department. Must have a thorough understanding of refrigeration systems and troubleshooting techniques. Strong background in Electronics and process controls is needed. Requires and understanding of refrigeration/electrical components including the technical details of how each component interacts and functions. Must be able to operate Microsoft software, specifically Word and Excel. Requires a high degree of tact, the ability to communicate and must know the basics of good customer relations.

EXPERIENCE

Employee should possess an Associates Degree or equivalent in the following disciplines, and/or have a minimum of four years technical military background with training in the following fields:

+ HY/AC/Refrigeration technology

+ Industrial Electrical / Electronics technology

+ Electrical engineering technology

+ CFC Certification (type II minimum and type I)

CONTACT WITH OTHERS

Has extensive outside contact with customer and service representatives. Must have the ability to converse with customers concerning the services offered and be able to steer customers in order to achieve the best result for the customer as well as the company. Must be able to communicate with customers under adverse conditions and be able to assure confidence in ES! systems. At times confers with other departments including production, quality controls, and projects. Customer contact requires tact and good judgment.

CONFIDENTIAL DATA

Has access to product information, prints and documents, warranty claims, and customer accounts relative to claims. Good customer relations require this information be kept confidential.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACCURACY

Accuracy is required in all aspects of this job including documentation, isolating defective components and procedures. Errors in judgment could be expensive and effect customer goodwill.

MENTAL EFFORT

Level of concentration varies with duties. Close attention to detail is required when dealing with customers and documentation, subject to frequent interruptions and a wide range of situations.

RESOURCEFULNESS AND INITIATIVE

Deals with a wide range of frequently changing situations requiring the analysis of fact, judgment and the establishment of priorities for completion of tasks. Occasionally creates and originates from established practices and procedures, with the approval of immediate supervision.

ENVIRONMENT

Most work is performed in a standard office/laboratory environment. Conditions may vary since technician will travel to customer sites across the country. Uniforms will be provided and technicians are responsible for the cleanliness of the uniform
