Southeast Missouri Behavioral Health gives hiring preference to applicants who achieve National Career Readiness Certification (NCRC). To receive NCRC, interested applicants must contact a Missouri Career Center. Experience preferred in general building maintenance and repair involving a variety of minor carpentry, painting, and minor plumbing work. Have knowledge of maintenance and repair of buildings and building facilities. Must have a valid Missouri driver's license. Read and write at a level appropriate to the classification. Ability to perform routine or heavy manual tasks depending on area of assignment.
Must pass background check provided for the agency by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Family Care Safety Registry which includes the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Department of Social Services, Department of Mental Health and Department of Health and Senior Services. Must not be on any "do not hire" list with the Department of Mental Health or the Missouri Division of Family Services.


Must be physically agile to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and reach. This person must have the ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Regular and consistent attendance is an essential job function. This position may require overtime. This job classification is covered under the agency's exposure control plan. Employees may reasonably anticipate being occupationally exposed to infectious materials. Responsible for performing a wide variety of building maintenance and repair work involving carpentry, painting, and minor plumbing or other mechanical and maintenance skills. Required to have functional skills in all of these areas and knowledge of common methods, practices, and materials used in maintenance and repair work of buildings and building facilities.
