High school education or equivalent.
Four or more years of progressively responsible experience in health care setting.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
Good customer service skills.
Ability to interact effectively and communicate proficiently.
Good data entry skills.
Competent in the use of keyboard, telephone and filing.
Typing and keyboard skills:
Minimum 5000 keystrokes per hour (alpha, numeric) with 90 percent accuracy.
Excellent problem solving ability.
Exposure to infectious biological specimens and sharps are experienced on occasion.
Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when appropriate.
Ability to lift to 10 pounds occasionally.
Must be able to handle stressful situation in a calm and professional manner.
Work requires the analytical ability to gather and interpret data.
Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
To provide assistance to non~technical associates, technical associates and laboratory clients in the following areas: resolve test request issues, specimen integrity issues, problem investigation and resolution, and detailed specimen handling. To provide accurate and timely data entry of patient data through the use of key software systems as needed.
Performs exception handling activities associated with specimen collection, receipt and accessioning
Participate in QI activities to ensure excellent customer service
Perform data entry of orders the Laboratory information system
