SUMMARY:The person in this position supervises maintenance and repair activities on the Arizona and Eastern Railway Company (AZER) properties. This role is responsible for carrying out supervisory duties and promoting safety in accordance with the organization's policies, FRA/FMCSA regulations, and applicable laws. A detailed knowledge of engineering policies is required and necessary to develop actions plans and coordinate company resources to assist in the completion of capital projects.RESPONSIBILITIES:* Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of both the maintenance and repair activities surrounding the Maintenance of Way functions* Interfaces with other departments to ensure efficient and organized operations of the railroad* Manages and ensures department meets its track, signal, and capital projects service goals* Responsible for safety performance of the Arizona and Eastern Railway Company (AZER) engineering forces* Advocate for and enforce Genesee & Wyoming's safety and engineering policies* Oversee maintenance and construction on the AZER properties, including right of way, track, structures, buildings, and signal and communication systems* Carries out supervisory responsibilities and provides support for Assistant Roadmaster and Engineering/MOW employees of AZER* Provide assistance with maintenance planning and the development of annual capital plans* Request material orders and contract agreements to ensure maintenance projects are completed* Take emergency calls and oversee repair of damaged facilities* Review daily reports and material usage* Perform engineering related office duties* Provide support with expertise in FRA track standards and AREMA standard specifications* Oversee inspection and reports* Provide support in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations* Provide support with FRA roadway-worker requirements and track-worker safety* Interact with federal, state, and local agencies* Travel as needed to support property* Manage other projects and perform other duties as assignedREQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:* Minimum 5 years of successful work experience as a Roadmaster directly supervising MOW employees in a strong safety culture* Demonstrated skill leading and developing a diverse workforce* Ability to self-motivate, prioritize, promote safe work habits, and manage budgetary requirements* Willingness to travel throughout AZER properties as well as out of state for training as neededREQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:* Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor's degree a plus* Valid driver's licenseThis position is employed by the specific entity set forth in the job posting.Genesee & Wyoming Inc. and its subsidiary companies do not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, membership in an employee organization, retaliation, parental status, military service, or any other protected status under federal, state or local laws.
