First Shift (United States of America)

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a talented individual to join us as a Social Worker for our Inpatient setting!

Position Highlights:

  • Fast paced position coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to discharge patients to the next level of care.
  • Supportive counseling in relation to adjustment of acute medical events
  • Experience in medical setting preferred but not required.


  • Full time, 40 hours/1.0 FTE (benefits eligible)
  • First shift
  • 8:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday - Friday
  • On call, 3-4 times a year

Job Duties:
Responsible for addressing clinical, financial, and social concerns for patients. Provide leadership in the identification and acquisition of resources (local, state, and federal) for the support of families. Provide high level education and support for individuals and families for both clinical and financial needs. Serve as a resource person for patients and their families. Must be able to work effectively with diverse client groups and their families. Maintain statistics on completed work, client files, and office files including update of files and analysis of information for reporting purposes. Coordinate internal activities to resolve patient inquiries.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in social work or human services required.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work required.
  • Knowledge of professional guidelines regarding confidentiality of client and staff information required.
  • Competent in the use of a variety of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel and Word required.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse patient groups and their families required.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing required.
  • Must demonstrate personal traits of a high-level commitment, motivation and energy, team orientation, and professionalism required.
  • Ability to work independently required.
  • Strong analytical skills required.           
  • Licensed as a social worker in the State of Nebraska required.

Preferred Qualifications:.

  • Master's Social Work degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of health care services and resources preferred.
