The Senior Software Engineer-Systems with a focus in C++ and Linux plays a key role in the development of a sophisticated robotic surgery system. Their work will contribute to low-level/OS programming, as well as systems architecture, design and implementation, focusing on software libraries/platforms that provides functionality to other software components. We are looking for a candidate who can work independently and function well within a team. The candidate is flexible, self-motivated, curious and passionate about revolutionizing the world of medical robotics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement platform, middleware, and infrastructure C++software for a distributed connected medical device.
  • Participate in design discussions and code reviews
  • Work with software and other specialists (clinical, systems, mechanical, electrical) as part of a focused multi-functional team developing software for medical robotic applications.
  • Satisfy system software needs of other software engineering teams, including applications, embedded, real-time, robotics and control, training and simulation, and UI/UX.
  • Drive the architecture and design of software components.

  • Qualifications


  • Minimum B.S (Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent) and 4 years' experience in C++ development and Object-Oriented development or M.S. and 2 years of C++ and Object-Oriented development.
  • Strong C++ development skills, including software design and architecture are required.
  • Experience with Unit testing and software Verification and Validation processes are required.
  • Collaborative teammate with excellent written and in-person communication skills.
  • Solid understanding and experience with Linux is required.
  • Experience with version control using Git is required
  • Preferred:

  • Experience working with hardware and product bring-up is preferred.
  • Experience with Python or shell-scripting is preferred.
  • Proficiency with multi-threaded applications is preferred.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry or medical devices is preferred.
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment is preferred.
  • Experience with networking in a distributed system is preferred.
  • Experience with CMake preferred.
  • Position is located in Santa Clara, CA and may require up to 5% travel.
