Summary

The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the Accounting team who is focused on the preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements and administration and accounting for the company’s leases. This includes the preparation and review of journal entries under the ASC 842 standard, reconciling assigned general ledger accounts, and other ad hoc projects involving leases and capital expenditures. The ideal candidate will have strong Excel skills, learn new systems easily, and be able to work in fast-paced and growing business with conflicting deadlines. They will be analytical, organized and detail oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills are a must, as is the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in month-end closing of the general ledger, focusing on lease and fixed asset accounting, including preparation, review, and posting of appropriate journal entries.
  • Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts as assigned.
  • Administration of lease accounting software, including entering and modifying lease agreements, data validation, and reporting.
  • Analysis and reporting for impairment of long-lived assets.
  • Partner with real estate, construction, and other teams to provide information related to impact of leasing decisions.
  • Serve as the back-up for fixed asset accounting, including store capitalization, disposals, and capitalized labor.
  • Assist with annual financial statement audit as needed.
  • Other ad hoc projects as desired.
  • Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 3+ years of similar, progressive experience in Accounting, month-end closing procedures, reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, including ASC 842.
  • Technologically savvy with excellent Excel skills.
  • High degree of professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to effectively work with individuals and groups at all levels of the organization; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license.
  • Public Accounting experience.
  • Previous lease administration duties and fixed asset accounting experience preferred.
  • Physical Requirements

    Office work involves remaining in a stationary position most of the time in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse and telephone. Regularly operate a computer and other office equipment. Occasionally move about the work site to access file cabinets, office equipment, etc. Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or regularly move objects. Communicate and exchange information with co-workers and other individuals in person and electronically.
