Aon Is Looking For A Project Manager, Industry Verticals

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our global industry vertical team in Chicago, IL.

Aon are currently recruiting a Project Manager to join our team in Chicago. The Project Manager will support Industry Vertical Leaders and is responsible for all aspects of the industry verticals implementation project over the entire life (initiate, plan, execute, control, close). Must be familiar with system and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member, to effectively coordinate the activities of the team. The Project Manager will play an important role coordinating internal industry teams; including team meeting management, documenting meetings, and working with colleagues across all solutions, geographies, and industries.

The successful candidate will be part of the Industry Vertical initiative which provides actionable analytics on clients across all major geographies and is a key tool in Aon’s strategy towards operational excellence

Our industry vertical teams assist our global leaders to better manage their businesses by providing industry insights for our client base. These insights have allowed Aon to implement targeted client strategies at both the global and regional level to ensure we are servicing our clients efficiently and effectively as well as helping to determine whether we are providing products and services that they value.

Industry Verticals have been launched in all major geographies that Aon operates in, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to meet and interact with other Aon leaders and colleagues around the globe.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs using appropriate verification techniques in order to keep the project plan accurate, updated, reflective of authorized project changes as defined in the change management plan, and facilitate client acceptance.
  • Ensure the execution of the tasks as defined in the project plan in order to achieve the project goals.
  • Ensure a common understanding by setting expectations in accordance with the Project Plan, in order to align the stakeholders and team members.
  • Motivate the team using appropriate tools and techniques in order to increase commitment to the project objectives.
  • Record detailed customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders in order to establish the project deliverables, using requirement-gathering techniques (e.g., planning sessions, brainstorming, focus groups) and the Project Charter.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques in order to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances, perform any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Ensure the implementation of the approved actions and workarounds required to mitigate project risk events in order to minimize the impact of the risks on the project.
  • Conduct a kick-off meeting with all key stakeholders in order to announce the start of the project and review the overall project plan and gain consensus.
  • Document high-level risks, assumptions, and constraints using historical data and expert judgment in order to understand project limitations.
  • Communicates information and ideas verbally and in writing so others will understand.

  • Establish alliances with other departments and organizations by recognizing dependencies in order to assess potential partnership and commitment to the project.

    You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to communicate and present to senior stakeholders. Developed interpersonal skills which will allow the successful candidate to build key relationships throughout our global business
  • Experience within financial analysis, able to identify key attributes or issues from large data sets
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and organize work with attention to detail in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Experience of creating reports that are used for strategic decision making
  • Provide input on delivery model and best practices.
  • Support, lead, or ensure the standardization of processes for implementing. projects across all clients, in accordance with best practices.
  • Identify, and/or elevate ideas for improving the delivery model offer and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership and motivational skills.
  • Ability to define project roles, responsibilities, methodology, tools and best practices.
  • Experience

  • 3+ years related experience.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office) and demonstrate a strong technology aptitude and skills with other computer applications.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Project management skills (ability to prioritize and multi-task on projects).
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation/ presentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer/client relationship-building skills.
  • Client focused with an ability to interact effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, along with maintaining productive working relationships with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong quality assurance and accuracy focus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to give direction and offer process education to others.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and adjust as needed to complete work in a timely manner and adhere to deadlines.
  • Detail oriented with continuous focus on process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and make decisions under pressure situations.
  • Ability to adapt to and support changes to the business.
  • Bachelor's Degree required, PMP certification preferred
