The Technology Product Manager (TPM) is an exciting position that will get T-Mobile to a set of strategic initiatives that may include Device, Platform, Chipset and Hardware providers. The TPM will communicate T-Mobile’s product strategies and leverage each partner’s strengths to drive the advancement of T-Mobile’s business. The TMP will be responsible for making connections between the partner and key members of the T-Mobile organization to evaluate and explore new technical and business opportunities. The TMP will be the lead subject matter expert on device HW, chipset capabilities, and network technologies. The TPM will be adept in balancing technical knowledge and business acumen, possess great leadership, management, communication and people skills.

What you'll do in your role.

  • Develop deep technology domain expertise in sectors vital to T-Mobile's core strategy. Provide strategic analysis and guidance (economic/financial, customer and market opportunities, key players and technologies, potential business models, T-Mobile fit, etc.) Formulate recommendations and lead strategic reviews of the D&SC vision to cross-functional teams
  • Establish repeatable processes to evaluate new Segment/Technology opportunities
  • Evaluate key device ecosystem players and technologies and how they can impact our partners and business
  • Lead the technical relationship with device and chipset manufactures for future hardware development. Ensure both meet milestones and mitigates risk based on deep understanding of technical implications of decisions and wide basis of knowledge.
  • Evaluate potential new partners, products and technologies and articulate how they can positively impact our business. Identify innovative opportunities presented by partners and see them through to adoption where possible
  • Perform competitive research and analyses and keep the rest of the team abreast through industry/competitive/technology briefs
  • Translate complex ideas to a wide range of audiences requiring exceptional technical documentation and presentation skills
  • Develop long-term strategy evolution and vision as trusted technology advisor a) identify and analyze complex market/business opportunities, b) evaluate key players and technologies, c) assess customer and market opportunities, d) develop differentiated product/service strategies, e) create potential economic/financial/business models, f) make product/technology strategy recommendations
  • Support & accelerate execution of strategic initiatives, working alongside leaders to ensure effective implementation, governance, communication and change management.
  • Owns and defines the strategy for an array of technologies applied across the T-Mobile portfolio with wide ranging impacts to the business
  • Manages the ‘big picture’ impacting the customer experience across multiple products or complex products, including the technical, functional, process, and policy considerations, and creatively defines and implements solutions to those challenges.
  • Influences senior leadership on investment choices and prioritization focused on customer experience and technical opportunities.
  • Works with leadership and business to identify and articulate initiative scope, benefit and ROI.
  • Develops and communicates a point of view on complex technical and customer experience topics. Aligns technical and business leadership on this common vision.
  • Lead in strategic, business and financial evaluation of new business models and corporate relationships from device technology perspective
  • Effectively and efficiently persuade, direct and interface with SVP’s, and occasionally with EVP’s and C-Suite.
  • Regularly leads large and complex, cross functional teams, mentor more junior Technical Product Managers
  • Partners with business, internal/external stakeholders and Leadership to understand current customer experiences, identifies areas of opportunity, create and manage large or complex product vision and roadmap.
  • Must be able to create actionable plans for achieving broadly defined company objectives
  • Support product, technology, and network teams to define product enhancements and deployments through the full project life cycle including capital assessment and funding processes
  • Establish partnerships across the enterprise to define, develop, manage and drive execution of the product roadmap based on technology/business and customer needs
  • The experience you'll bring.

    • 7-10 Years Wireless Technology, Cellular, Business development, strategy, consulting or similar roles.
    • Solid leader with strong business & technology acumen and the ability to interact with senior leadership with confidence and ingenuity
    • Extensive knowledge of wireless technology, GSM, EDGE, CDMA, UMTS, LTE, VoWiFi, VoLTE, IMS and 5G
    • Strategically minded, contributes to the development of a coherent overarching strategic vision for the company
    • Strong strategic, analytical and critical thinking skills (e.g., data-backed analysis, data science tools, valuation methods, hypothesis-driven approach, research & strategy frameworks) to support the design & execution of new solutions.
    • Must be able to create actionable plans for achieving broadly defined company objectives
    • Requires the ability to effectively deal with ambiguity and complexity
    • Flexible, self-starter, and comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment
    • Desire for a high level of responsibility and ownership and ability to work with minimal supervision
    • Desire to work in a team-oriented environment
    • Strong communication skills, ability to present analytical results to executives in verbal and written form and ability to influence senior leaders, peers, and other organization members. Deep expertise in creating executive level presentations in MS PowerPoint
    • Data analysis and modeling skills on tools like Excel, ability to navigate and get insights through SQL preferred
    • Ability to develop and maintain highly constructive cross functional relationships
    • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science or another relevant field. Masters in a quantitative area or Masters of Business Administration preferred
