Perform journey-level work in the design, fabrication, installation, and repair of metal structures, fixtures, and all other related physical assets.
·Complete Work Orders - Complete work or assignments verbally or via work order system. Respond to building/site emergencies on a 24/7 basis. Troubleshoot and make repairs.
·Ornamental Ironwork - Ornamental work including layout, fabrication and erection. Installation and repairs of metal stairways, railings, ladders, doors, cat-walks, chain link and decorative fencing, and other various assets.
·Structural Ironwork - Unloading, erecting, bolting, and welding structural framework on assets including but not limited to: bridges, piping, support structures, reinforcing rebar, and other various assets.
·Hot Work - Electric arc welding, arc gouging, cutting, proper handling of tanks and equipment with acetylene and plasma.
·Cranes and Rigging - Erect and dismantle cranes and other rigging devices. Rig equipment and various structural members into place using cranes, chains, winches, ropes, and other various tools.
·Equipment Maintenance - Inspect and maintain all equipment and tools related to the job as well as rigging and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
·Interdepartmental Cooperation/Coordination - Collaborate with other departments to support the overall needs of all Milwaukee County facilities.
·Support the overall success of the department by completing various tasks as assigned.
·Ability to properly or safely operate: vans, pick-up trucks, cranes, barges, welding equipment, hand/power tools, ladders, saws and torches.·Ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 50 lbs.
Required Education, License/Certification and Experience
·Current residency within the State of Wisconsin required
·Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required and must be maintained throughout employment
·Associate’s degree or higher in Welding, Sheetmetal or closely related field OR completion of a Welding or Sheetmetal Apprenticeship required
·Five (5) years or more work experience in Sheetmetal, Welding or Metal Fabrication required
·Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel required
·Must be able to work in all Milwaukee County facilities including secured detention/high-security facilities and work in areas with sensitive information and assets
