Job Summary

/Purpose: Under very limited supervision, the IT Program Manager provides project and program management and oversees related communications to Executives and other leaders. This position is responsible for planning, executing, and controlling project-related activities, changes, and reporting across programs and projects within Information Solutions. The IT Program Manager guides, coaches, and mentors project managers working within their programs on the timely facilitation of issues management, risk assessments, project management documentation, budgeting, reporting and communication. This role is expected to be a leader in developing enterprise-wide program and project management tools, methodologies, policies, procedures, and training. The IT Program Manager ensures program and project staff accurately record and resolve project issues, change requests, and risks, and maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation including charters, budgets, timelines, and other project documents.

Minimum Training and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Healthcare Administration, Project Management, Computer Science/Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or Business Management
  • With a minimum of eight years of work experience managing projects required, with 3 years' experience managing healthcare related IT projects preferred, or, master’s degree and 6 years' experience managing projects required, with 2 years’ experience managing healthcare related IT projects preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years leading or directing project activities on multi-disciplinary, team-based projects required. 
  • Experience managing functional teams within one or more of the portfolio areas (academic, research, clinical) preferred.
  • Current PMP and PMI-ACP certifications are required and must be maintained. Current ITIL Foundation certification required or earned within six (6) months of hire date.
  • Prior experience supporting project activities during a revenue cycle, clinical system, ERP, or other major multi-disciplinary implementation or integration project required. 
  • Command of SharePoint, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and Excel required. Working knowledge of project management tools and techniques required. Demonstrated command of advanced project management tools and techniques required.
  • The ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills and prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment is essential.
  • Proven ability to work with multiple technical managers and project teams simultaneously is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required to foster collaborative partnerships in a team environment. 
  • Superior facilitation skills for leading recurring, outcomes-based, and problem-solving project meetings required.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary integrated testing preferred.
  • Must be able to serve as a mentor and coach to other Project Managers on the team and hold others accountable for adhering to the IS Portfolio Team’s project management tools, techniques, and policies.
  • Expected to coordinate and collaborate fully with the MUSC ePMO. Strong presentation skills are a must. Experience in delivering face-to-face training preferred.
  • Two or more years working in agile environments desired. Excellent interpersonal skills required to foster collaborative partnerships in a team environment. 
  • Superior facilitation skills for leading recurring, outcomes-based, and problem-solving project meetings required.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary integrated testing desired. 
  • Strong presentation skills are a must.
  • Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:

  • Current PMP and PMI-ACP certifications are required and must be maintained.
  • Current ITIL Foundation certification required or earned within six (6) months of hire date.
