Our Family and Youth Development programs support the development of these varied audiences by strengthening knowledge, skills and awareness in the areas of youth development, science and technology, healthy living and parenting through school-based and out of school programming.
Position: The Choose Health Action Teen Intern will support implementation of the “Choose Health Food, Fun and Fitness” (CHFFF) 4-H program in New York City by training and mentoring NYC teen leaders who will teach middle schoolers about healthy eating and active living promotes overall health and well-being among youth and their families.
The Choose Health program intern will provide ongoing training and support to teen leaders who will work directly with youth program participants. The intern will assist the teens via small group and one to one mentoring, as appropriate. The intern will also observe and support teen leaders during program delivery, and contribute to reflection and debriefing sessions with teen leaders. The Choose Health intern will support data collection, data entry and reporting for this project. The intern will provide feedback/ suggestions to improve program effectiveness. Participation in ongoing team meetings with other CHAT interns and project leaders are required.
Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience: Requirements: The intern is expected to be highly motivated; possess strong writing, organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently. Prior experience working with families and/or youth in urban settings is preferred. Beginning level coursework in nutrition, community health, family and youth development, and/or research and evaluation is strongly desired. He/she must have proficient computer/ technical skills since program will be conducted remotely. Spanish language skills are preferred, but not required for consideration for the internship.
